What Is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction, commonly known as impotence, is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Vascular disease—also known as atherosclerosis—is the underlying cause in 70% of men with erectile dysfunction. The most common vascular diseases are coronary artery disease and diabetes, but any disease affecting the blood vessels can lead to erectile dysfunction. Atherosclerosis affecting the coronary arteries also affects all other blood vessels in the body, including those in the penis.
Another very common vascular disease is diabetes. Diabetes is a condition that affects all of the body’s small capillaries—including those in the penis. For this reason, patients with diabetes will inevitably experience erectile dysfunction at some point, whether early or late in the course of the disease.
The most significant factors that trigger and accelerate vascular disease or atherosclerosis are smoking and high levels of cholesterol and lipids in the blood.
In addition, erectile dysfunction is a common side effect of many prescription medications used to treat various diseases.
Contrary to popular belief, erectile dysfunction is a very common condition. It affects 2 out of every 3 men over the age of 40, either intermittently or continuously.
Modus ED SWT therapy promotes the formation of new blood vessels in the capillaries within the penis. This increases blood flow to the penis, resulting in greater firmness.
What is the mechanism of action of shock wave therapy?
Low-intensity shock wave therapy has been successfully used in cardiology since 2000 to restore blood flow to ischemic heart tissue; it increases blood flow in areas of the heart with reduced blood supply. Shock waves, which are first reflected and then focused and directed, lead to the formation of new, fine blood vessels in the penis—just as they do in the heart—thereby increasing blood flow to the penis and restoring successful erections. A successful erection depends on adequate blood flow to the penis.
How Is Shock Wave Therapy Performed?
It is administered in courses of 6 sessions.
During the treatment, low-intensity ultrasound waves are applied to the penis and the base of the penis.
Why is shock wave therapy administered in sessions?
The reason the treatment is administered in sessions is related to its mechanism of action. The formation of new blood vessels resulting from stem cell retention induced by low-intensity acoustic shock waves is a natural healing process of the body that takes time and progresses slowly. For these reasons, Modus ED SWT treatment is administered in series of six sessions.
How effective is shock wave therapy?
It is effective for all cases of erectile dysfunction caused by vascular factors. Erectile dysfunction caused by vascular factors accounts for approximately 70% of all cases, with the largest subgroups being patients with diabetes and coronary artery disease. In addition, Modus ED-SWT treatment yields successful results both before and after prostate surgery.
In patients with mild to moderate conditions, the success rate is over 80% with 6–12 sessions of Modus ED-SWT treatment, while in patients with severe conditions, the success rate is over 60% with 12–24 sessions of Modus ED-SWT treatment.
In other words, Modus ED-SWT treatment yields successful results in 3 out of every 4 patients with mild to moderate symptoms following 6–12 treatment sessions, and in 2 out of every 4 patients with severe symptoms following 12–24 treatment sessions.
Since the Modus ed-swt treatment has no side effects, there is no limit to the number of sessions. Each additional 6-session course further increases the treatment’s success rate.
The success rates achieved with oral medications, however, range from approximately 60% to 70%. In addition to the known side effects and adverse reactions of drug therapy, 50% of patients stop taking the medication after a while due to factors such as the risks associated with coronary heart disease, the need to plan sexual intercourse in advance, and drug dependence. Furthermore, it has been shown that severely ill patients who did not respond to medication and were referred to injections or penile implants as a last resort began to respond to medication following Modus ED-SWT treatment.
Is shock wave therapy safe? Are there any side effects?
Modus ed-swt treatment is completely safe. It involves no invasive procedures or interventions. No medication is used. To date, no side effects have been reported during or after treatment. After each session, patients can immediately return to their daily lives. There are no restrictions on their daily activities.
Is the treatment session and the period afterward painful? Is sedation, a sedative, or any other preparation required before treatment? What does it feel like during treatment?
No sedation, tranquilizers, or pre-treatment preparation is required. There are no post-treatment restrictions. Some patients have reported feeling a mild tingling sensation during treatment, which disappears at the end of the session.
How long does a treatment session last?
Each treatment session lasts approximately 20 minutes. Modus ed-swt treatment is not a one-session treatment. At least 6 treatment sessions are required. For the successful treatment of patients with mild to moderate conditions, 6–12 treatment sessions are required, while 12–24 treatment sessions are required for the successful treatment of patients with severe conditions.
When is the success of the treatment first noticeable?
The effects of the treatment become noticeable one month after the final Modus ed-swt session.
Will I need to repeat the treatment in the future?
Since the Modus ed-swt treatment has no side effects, there is no limit to the number of sessions. Each additional 6-session course of treatment further increases the success rate. Repeating the 6-session course of treatment in the future further enhances the treatment’s effectiveness.
Does it affect penis size?
An increase in penile girth of 5 mm or more following Modus ed-swt treatment is a common finding in patients. This is due to the formation of new blood vessels.
What are the benefits and successes of shock wave therapy?
- No medication, prosthetics, or similar devices are used in this treatment. This treatment method is completely noninvasive.
- As with other treatment methods, it does not need to be used before every sexual encounter.
- Unlike drug therapy, which merely opens the blood vessels for a limited time, it offers a permanent cure by completely clearing blockages in the blood vessels and accelerating the formation of new blood vessels.
- It has been observed that Modus ed-swt therapy increases penile girth by enhancing blood flow.
- After the procedure, the patient resumes their daily routine.
- It does not require the administration of medications such as anesthesia or sedatives during or after the procedure.
• The success rate of ED-SWT treatment is over 80%. Even in severe cases that do not respond to medication, the success rate exceeds 60%. - After Ed-swt treatment, patients no longer need the medication they were previously taking. There are no side effects.
