Robotic partial nephrectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat kidney tumors. This technique allows for the removal of only the portion of the kidney containing the tumor, rather than the entire kidney, in conditions such as kidney cancer. The goal is to remove the tumorous tissue while preserving kidney function as much as possible. The use of robotic systems enhances the surgeon’s precision and enables the procedure to be performed through smaller incisions.

What Is Robotic Partial Nephrectomy?

A partial nephrectomy involves removing only the tumor-affected portion of the kidney rather than the entire kidney. This surgical procedure is preferred when kidney cancer is in its early stages and helps preserve kidney function by preserving the healthy portion of the kidney.

Robot-assisted surgery is performed using a platform such as the Da Vinci robotic surgical system. This system provides the surgeon with a high-resolution 3-dimensional image and allows the surgeon to manipulate precise surgical instruments via robotic arms.
