Kidney stone pain is considered one of the most severe types of pain in urology. The pain usually begins in the flank and, depending on the stone’s location, may radiate to the groin, lower abdomen, testicles, or genital area.
Especially when stones fall into the ureter—the tube that carries urine—the pain comes in waves, and patients often cannot find a position that brings relief. Nausea, vomiting, and blood in the urine may also accompany these symptoms.
